Terms & Conditions

These conditions explain the relationship between the traveller, the travel agent, TravelNet, and the suppliers that provide each flight, stay, vehicle, package, or related service.

Travel documents, ticket, passport and balanced scale representing booking conditions.

Please read these booking conditions carefully before confirming or paying for travel. By requesting a quote, making a reservation, or using a booked service, the traveller confirms that the applicable conditions have been read and accepted.

A booking may contain services from several independent suppliers. Each supplier has its own fare, rate, baggage, change, cancellation, check-in, and service conditions. Those supplier conditions form part of the booking contract.

Murex Travel provides clients (YOU/YOUR) with travel and/or other services on behalf of principals and/or other agents engaged in, or associated with the travel industry, including airlines, tour operators, hotels, shipping companies, car hire and other providers of air, land, sea or any other travel arrangements, products or services, or other parties for whom Murex Travel acts as agent (Suppliers).

Murex Travel will provide the identity, terms and conditions of all principals and other parties for whom it acts directly as agent relevant to the service being provided for YOUR booking.

It is YOUR responsibility to familiarise yourself with such terms and conditions (the Supplier Conditions).

All products and services, estimates and quotes provided by Murex Travel are subject to these Standard Conditions of Business and the Supplier Conditions.

The person requesting a quote or making a booking confirms that they have authority to act for every traveller included in the request and will pass all booking information and conditions to those travellers.

Traveller names, titles, identity or passport details, dates of birth, contact information, and other required details must be supplied accurately and must match the documents that will be used for travel.

Murex Travel represents Suppliers as agents only. On receipt of any request for a booking, whether contained in a brochure or tailored quote, Murex Travel shall transmit such booking to the Supplier concerned and endeavour to secure all reservations and arrangements timeously.

All vouchers, receipts and tickets are issued subject to the Supplier Conditions. By accepting vouchers and tickets and/or utilising the services of any person participating in any tour or package, YOU become contractually bound to the relevant Supplier and YOUR sole right of recourse will be against such Supplier.

Neither Murex Travel nor any holding, parent, subsidiary, affiliated or associated company or representative shall be liable for any loss, injury, damage to YOUR person and/or belongings, or death whatsoever. YOU indemnify Murex Travel and the Suppliers accordingly.

Murex Travel does not accept liability for any actions, errors or omissions on the part of any Supplier which may be prejudicial to YOU or result in loss in any way or form whatsoever.

Suppliers may be acquitted from responsibility where they act as agents themselves or have contracted out of liability. The same may apply to ultimate principals such as hotels, car hire and coach operators. Appropriate insurance is therefore recommended for all travellers.

Murex Travel and the Suppliers will under no circumstances be liable for any indirect and/or consequential loss or damages.

Any claim whatsoever must be lodged in writing with Murex Travel within 30 (thirty) days after the end of the tour.

Product descriptions, images, facilities, schedules, star ratings, and other supplier content are provided in good faith. Standards and grading criteria differ between destinations, and supplier content may change without notice.

The booking or reservation refers to part or all of the travel arrangements for transportation, accommodation, sightseeing and other linked travel services made on behalf of a client with Suppliers. It excludes peripheral services described in clause 6 or similar services.

Wherever possible Murex Travel will endeavour to confirm the status of any booking in writing, but may not always be able to do so. Failure to provide written confirmation shall not negate the validity and conditions of the booking or constitute negligence by Murex Travel.

If there is an unscheduled extension to the booking caused by flight delay, bad weather, strike or any other cause beyond the control of Murex Travel, expenses relating to such extensions, including hotel accommodation, will be for YOUR account.

In the case of air tickets, full payment is required as per the applicable fare rule. If full payment is not received by the applicable date, the airline will automatically cancel the reservation.

If any Supplier is unable to provide the service confirmed to YOU, the policy of Murex Travel is to offer alternative arrangements of similar classification wherever possible, preferably in the same area.

Whilst every effort is made to keep to published itineraries, Murex Travel reserves the right to make changes deemed necessary. Conditions such as weather may require itinerary changes and this does not constitute grounds for a refund.

No refunds will be considered for no-shows or unused services.

Unless full payment is due at the time of booking, all bookings must be accompanied by the requested deposit or guarantee of a deposit. Part or all of the deposit may be non-refundable where specified in the reservation form.

Murex Travel reserves the right to cancel any booking without prejudice if a deposit or part thereof is not received.

The booking price quoted to YOU is based on fares, hotel prices, land costs and other relevant costs ruling at the date the booking confirmation is submitted to YOU for acceptance. Any increase in such costs before the start date shall be for YOUR account on request by Murex Travel.

Any increase in the booking price arising from exchange-rate fluctuation between the booking confirmation date and the start date shall be for YOUR account.

The onus will be on YOU to check that there have been no changes in the booking price before making full payment.

Upon receipt of the booking price in full by the date specified in the booking confirmation, Murex Travel guarantees the price of land arrangements. Airfares remain subject to the price and conditions quoted by the airlines and cannot be guaranteed by Murex Travel.

Room names and occupancies must be read carefully. Triple and family rooms may use extra beds, rollaway beds, sleeper couches, or two double beds. Special promotional room types may require proof of eligibility at check-in.

Services included in a rate are those stated in the booking confirmation. Personal expenses, local charges, resort fees, meals, transfers, parking, or other items not expressly included remain for the traveller account.

Travel times are supplied by carriers and remain subject to operational, air-traffic, weather, maintenance, and schedule changes. Travellers must check the current departure and connection times before travel.

Special requests can be passed to a supplier but are not guaranteed unless the supplier expressly confirms them as part of the booking.

Final payment must be made by the deadline shown in the booking confirmation, fare rule, supplier condition, payment page, or written consultant instruction. Airline ticketing deadlines may be immediate or substantially shorter than general package deadlines.

Final payment is based upon the quoted and confirmed price specified in the booking confirmation, less any deposit paid, plus any additional charges incurred.

For late bookings, full payment is due immediately on confirmation and is non-refundable. Some bookings require full payment at the time of reservation, prior to confirmation.

Aside from passport, visa and other peripheral service fees, Murex Travel reserves the right to claim late booking charges, communications, consultation, administration and amendment fees where applicable, and YOU undertake to pay such fees on demand.

Interest at 2% above the current prime bank overdraft rate charged to Murex Travel by its bank will automatically be applied to all overdue amounts.

Any invoice and/or statement received by YOU shall be payable in full. No deduction or alteration may be made by YOU should any part of the services booked by Murex Travel be unused for any reason.

If Murex Travel and/or any Supplier incurs legal costs for any reason whatsoever, YOU undertake to pay all legal fees on an attorney and own client scale upon demand.

Card details must only be entered on an approved secure payment-provider page. TravelNet Portal does not request card numbers or CVC values in its ordinary traveller or contact forms.

Electronic transfers are only treated as paid once cleared funds are confirmed in the nominated account. A transmission report or deposit slip alone does not prove receipt.

Murex Travel strongly recommends that necessary travel insurance cover for the duration of the journey be purchased, and can advise on the various types of cover available. YOU should especially consider cover against illness and cancellation.

Various credit card companies offer limited levels of travel insurance, which Murex Travel does not consider sufficient cover for international travel. YOU should check with the relevant credit card company for specific cover details.

It shall not be obligatory upon Murex Travel to arrange insurance for YOU except upon detailed instructions given in writing by YOU. Any insurance arranged pursuant to such instruction will be subject to the exceptions and conditions imposed by the insurer or underwriters accepting the risk.

Murex Travel shall not be obliged to obtain separate cover for any risks excluded by insurers and shall not be obliged to effect separate insurance for each customer. Cover may be declared on an open or general policy.

Should insurers dispute liability for any reason, YOU will have recourse against the insurers only. Murex Travel will not be responsible or liable in relation thereto, notwithstanding that the premium charged may differ from the rate paid to Murex Travel.

Murex Travel will not be responsible if YOU fail to take adequate insurance or no insurance cover at all.

Queries must be addressed to the principal insurer, as Murex Travel shall not be held responsible for information advanced by its staff in this regard.

Once insurance has been confirmed and paid for, YOU will be issued with a policy document from the insurer. YOU must read it before travelling so that any queries can be addressed to the insurer prior to departure.

Murex Travel will endeavour to assist YOU in obtaining or meeting requirements for passports, visas, health documents, insurance, foreign exchange, Reserve and other bank approvals, use of credit cards, customs and immigration regulations, and other peripheral requirements or services outside the actual travel arrangements made with Suppliers.

Due to the constantly changing nature of such peripheral requirements and services, Murex Travel cannot be held liable for ensuring that these requirements and services are provided correctly, timeously or at all.

Murex Travel cannot be held liable for the accuracy of information, any lack of information relating to such requirements and/or services, denial of entry for any reason, changes of requirements, delays, or loss of passport caused by consulates or embassies.

The responsibility to obtain proper, current and valid passports, visas, vaccinations, inoculations and similar documents, where required, is YOURS alone.

It is strongly recommended that YOU liaise with the consultants or embassies concerned and/or contact the relevant health authorities or clinics yourself. Murex Travel can assist YOU with telephone numbers and addresses.

Every traveller must check that names and document numbers on tickets, vouchers, itineraries, and confirmations are correct before departure and must report any discrepancy immediately.

Travel documents are issued according to the supplier process and may only become available after full payment, ticketing, or final supplier confirmation.

Travellers with medical, mobility, dietary, seating, or other assistance needs must provide full details early enough for the request to be passed to the relevant supplier.

Murex Travel will endeavour to provide the services required by the customer. If YOU or anyone on YOUR behalf cancels the booking, partially or in full, for any reason whatsoever, Murex Travel reserves the right to claim service, administration, communication and cancellation charges, which will depend in part on debits received from Suppliers.

YOUR attention is drawn to the cancellation conditions and fees specified in the booking confirmation, where applicable, and/or the Supplier Conditions.

Failure to cancel will result in the total booking cost being payable.

Murex Travel reserves the right to discontinue and summarily cancel any agreement for which payments have fallen into arrears. If this right is exercised, the full balance still owing shall immediately become due and payable on demand.

Any cancellation must be in writing.

Travellers must check flight and other transport times before departure and again during the journey. Schedule changes can affect onward connections even when the original itinerary was correct.

Murex Travel reserves the right to cancel any tour at any time prior to departure. In such event, all payments will be refunded as full and final settlement of all further liability of whatsoever nature arising from such cancellation.

Refund eligibility and processing time depend on the supplier. Any authorised refund may be reduced by supplier penalties, used portions, non-refundable components, and applicable administration charges.

The traveller is responsible for additional expenses caused by an unscheduled extension, missed connection, delay, weather event, strike, technical problem, or other event outside the reasonable control of Murex Travel, unless the responsible supplier or an insurer accepts those costs.

Neither Murex Travel nor a Supplier will be responsible for failure or delay caused by an event that could not reasonably have been foreseen or avoided, including severe weather, war, civil unrest, industrial action, natural disaster, epidemic, government restriction, or interruption of transport services.

Where a confirmed component is changed or cancelled by a Supplier, the travel team will endeavour to communicate the available alternatives, rebooking choices, credits, or refund process supplied for that booking.

A traveller who experiences a problem during the trip must notify the relevant Supplier immediately and give that Supplier a reasonable opportunity to correct it.

If the matter is not resolved, contact Murex Travel as soon as possible. Keep photographs, receipts, names, times, written messages, and other evidence that may help the travel team investigate.

A complaint must be submitted in writing with the booking reference and full details promptly after the trip and within any shorter period required by the applicable Supplier Conditions.

Words implying the singular shall include the plural and vice versa. Words importing one gender shall include any other, and references to natural persons shall include legal entities and vice versa.

This agreement is governed by local laws and subject to local jurisdiction.

The parties consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate Magistrate Court for any action and/or proceedings based on or arising from these Standard Conditions of Business.

No indulgence which Murex Travel may grant to YOU shall constitute a waiver of any rights. Murex Travel shall not be precluded from exercising any rights which may have arisen in the past or may arise in future.

The parties choose domicilium citandi et executandi for all notices and proceedings at their respective addresses as given on the booking confirmation. Either party may change its domicilium by written notice delivered by hand or sent by prepaid registered post to the other party.

This document reflects the only and full agreement between YOU and Murex Travel. Any variation and/or extension shall not be valid unless agreed to by both parties in writing and signed by both parties, where necessary by a duly authorised signatory.

In the event of a conflict and/or uncertainty in meaning or interpretation between this and any other document issued by Murex Travel, this document will always take preference.
